BfA Engineering Leveling Guide 1 - 175

This Battle for Azeroth Engineering leveling guide will show you the fastest and easiest way how to level your BfA Engineering skill up from 1 to 175.

This guide's primary focus is leveling Engineering, but you can visit my Battle for Azeroth Engineering Guide if you want to read more about the new changes, engineering bonuses, and recipes.

Engineering is the best combined with Mining because you can farm most of the needed materials, and you will save a lot of gold. So, check out my BfA Mining leveling guide if you want to level Mining before Engineering. But, the fastest way to level this profession is to buy everything from the Auction House.

BfA Engineering Trainer Location

The new BfA Engineering skill is named differently for the two factions, but the name is the only difference between them. Kul Tiran Engineering is the Alliance version and Zandalari Engineering is the Horde version.

You can walk up to a guard in Dazar'alor or Boralus then ask where the Engineering trainer is. Asking the guard will place a red marker on your map at the trainer's location.

Recipe Ranks

Most high-level Battle for Azeroth Engineering recipes has 3 ranks. Higher rank recipes reduce the materials required to create a recipe, and also give skill points much longer.

Approximate Materials Required

The 110-145 part is not included in the list below because there are four ways to level between 110 and 145. You can read more about this when you get to 110.

You need a lot of Expulsom to reach 175, so check out my guide on How to get Expulsom, if you don't know how to get this crafting item.

The Insulated Wiring and Chemical Blasting Cap are sold by the Engineering trainer. Don't buy them from the Auction House!

Leveling BfA Engineering

Gnome characters have +15 Engineering skill because of their passive Engineering Specialization. An extra 15 Engineering skill means recipes stay orange for 15 more points, so you can save a lot of gold by doing lower level recipes for 15 more points.

1 - 30

30 x F.R.I.E.D. - 180 x Monelite Ore, 150 x Chemical Blasting Cap, 240 x Insulated Wiring

The Insulated Wiring and Chemical Blasting Cap are sold by the Engineering trainer, don't buy them from the Auction House. (You can also make the other two bombs.)

30 - 35

5 x Deployable Attire Rearranger - 50 Monelite Ore, 30 Storm Silver Ore, 50 Insulated Wiring

35 - 60

30 x Rank 2 - F.R.I.E.D. - 150 x Monelite Ore, 90 x Chemical Blasting Cap, 150 x Insulated Wiring

Don't forget to learn the rank 2 bombs from your trainer before you start making these! (You can also make the other two bombs.)

Alternative recipe:

If you are Revered with Zandalari Empire (Horde) / Storm's Wake (Alliance), then you can buy the rank 3 Organic Discombobulation Grenade from Natal'hakata (Horde) / Rank 3 - Organic Discombobulation Grenade - 240 x Monelite Ore, 120 x Chemical Blasting Cap, 240 x Insulated Wiring

60 - 85

25 x Rank 2 - Deployable Attire Rearranger - 200 Monelite Ore, 125 Storm Silver Ore, 200 Insulated Wiring

Don't forget to learn the rank 2 from the trainer!

85 - 110

Don't forget to learn the rank 3 recipe from your trainer before you start making these!

15 x Rank 3 - Magical Intrusion Dampener - 120 x Monelite Ore, 80 x Storm Silver Ore, 90x Insulated Wiring

NOTE: This recipe is currently bugged. It gives 2-3 skill points per craft while it's orange. And even at yellow it sometimes gives 2 skill points, but not every craft. Contact me if you see it no longers gives 2 skill point because the bug was fixed. (Make any rank 2 scopes if it has been fixed)

You will probably have to make more than 15.

Multiple ways to level between 110 and 145

There are multiple ways to level to 145, I will list them starting from the best to worst. Method 4 is better than 3 if you already have the 15 Tidalcore.

The table below shows the approximate materials needed for each leveling method.

Requires Exalted Zandalari Empire (Horde) / Proudmoore Admiralty (Alliance).

It requires a lot of high-level battle pets.

Requires 6 Mark of Honor.

Requires 15 Tidalcore.

1. Unstable Temporal Time Shifter - Rank 3

The Rank 3 Unstable Temporal Time Shifter is the best recipe to level Engineering to 150, but you have to get Exalted Zandalari Empire (Horde) / Proudmoore Admiralty (Alliance) reputation to unlock the rank 2 recipe. It takes a long time to get to Exalted, so I only recommend this for those who are already at Exalted or really close to it.

Rank 2

After you reach Exalted with the Zandalari Empire (Horde) / Proudmoore Admiralty (Alliance) faction, you can buy the rank 2 Unstable Temporal Time Shifter from Natal'hakata (Horde) in Zuldazar or Provisioner Fray (Alliance) in Tiragarde Sound.

Rank 3

The rank 3 recipe is a lot easier to get. Schematic: Unstable Temporal Time Shifter - Rank 3 is dropped by High Tinker Mekkatorque inside the Battle of Dazar'alor raid. You can kill him on any difficulty, even in Raid Finder and you will get the recipe.

110 - 150

35 x Rank 3 - Unstable Temporal Time Shifter - 280 Monelite Ore, 210 Storm Silver Ore, 525 Insulated Wiring

Make this one all the way up to 150 until it turns grey!

2. Mechantula from Pet Battle Challenge: Gnomeregan

If you complete the Pet Battle Challenge: Gnomeregan, you can buy the Schematic: Mechantula for one Pristine Gizmo.

Skip this part if you have never played with your Pet Battles before. It will take too much time to level up the pets just to get this one recipe for Engineering. I only recommend this to those with a lot of level 25 pets.

If you have a decent amount of level 25 pets and believe you can beat the challenge, try these guides located here, here, and in the comments here.

110 - 125

25 x Unstable Temporal Time Shifter - 300 Monelite Ore, 200 Storm Silver Ore, 400 Insulated Wiring

You will probably have to make a few more to reach 125 because the recipe will be yellow.

125 - 145

35 x Mechantula - 350 Monelite Ore, 175 Platinum Ore, 350 Insulated Wiring

This recipe will be green for the last 5 points, so you might have to make more.

3. Leveling with Mark of Honor

This part requires 6 Mark of Honor.

How to get Mark of Honor?

You can get Mark of Honor from winning Battlegrounds and Arenas, or you can also buy an Orboreal Distinguishment for 2000 honor from Purveyor Zo'kuul in Oribos. One box contains 5 x Mark of Honor, so simply farming honor and buying these boxes is the fastest way to get Mark of Honor.

NOTE: Mark of Honor is account bound, so you can send it to your character from your alts.

How to get Expulsom?

You need a lot of Expulsom to reach 145, so check out my guide on How to get Expulsom, if you don't know how to get this crafting item.

110 - 125

25 x Unstable Temporal Time Shifter - 300 Monelite Ore, 200 Storm Silver Ore, 400 Insulated Wiring

You will probably have to make a few more to reach 125 because the recipe will be yellow.

Alternative Recipes:

There are two good alternative recipes for this part, but you need revered reputation to buy them.

Rank 3 - Frost-Laced Ammunition requires Revered with Voldunai (Horde) / Order of Embers (Alliance). Sold by Hoarder Jena (Horde) / Quartermaster Alcorn (Alliance).

Rank 3 - Monelite Scope of Alacrity requires Revered The Honorbound (Horde) / 7th Legion (Alliance). Sold by Ransa Greyfeather (Horde) / Vindicator Jaelaana (Alliance)

Make around 25 from one of these:

You will probably have to make a few more to reach 125 because both recipes will be yellow.

125 - 145

Buy the rank 2 and 3 Sinister Combatant's Discombobulator from Ozgrom Ragefang (Horde) in Zuldazar or from Leedan Gustaf (Alliance) in Boralus for 6 Mark of Honor.

20 x Rank 3 - Sinister Combatant's Discombobulator - 500 Storm Silver Ore, 300 Platinum Ore, 80 Expulsom

4. Leveling with Tidalcores

Tidalcore is a guaranteed drop from the last boss in a Mythic dungeon and from the chest at the end of any level Mythic Plus Dungeon. They can also drop from the last boss of a heroic dungeon, however, this is not a guaranteed drop.

110 - 130

35 x Unstable Temporal Time Shifter - 420 Monelite Ore, 280 Storm Silver Ore, 700 Insulated Wiring

You will probably have to make a few more to reach 130 because the recipe will be green for the last 5 points.

Make around 35 from one of these:

You might have to make a few more to reach 130 because both of these recipes will be green for the last 5 points.

130 - 145

If you scrap these engineering goggles below, you can get all your Tidalcore and Expulsom back. So, if you scrap each goggle, you only have to get enough Tidalcore and Expulsom for one helm.

If you don't know what the Scrapper is or how to use it, then visit my Expulsom Farming Guide, and read the scrapper section.

There are 4 engineering goggles, one for each armor type:

You can learn these from your trainer, and they all cost the same, so choose the one that's your armor type if you are gonna use it, else it doesn't matter.

15 x [Any Goggle] - 450 Storm Silver Ore, 150 Platinum Ore, 225 Insulated Wiring, 15 Expulsom, 15 Tidalcore

Nazjatar

Visit your trainer Jada (Horde) / Instructor Alikana in Nazjatar and learn the new recipes. (You have to finish the first few intro quest at Nazjatar before you can see these NPCs.)

145 - 150

5 x Rank 1 - Notorious Combatant's Discombobulator - 75 Osmenite Ore, 25 Storm Silver Ore, 50 Insulated Wiring, 15 Expulsom

You can skip this part if you made Rank 3 - Unstable Temporal Time Shifter, and if you made the Engineering Goggles between 130-145, you can keep making them for 5 more points if Osmenite Ore is expensive on your realm and the older ores are cheaper.

How to get Expulsom?

You need a lot of Expulsom to reach 175, so check out my guide on How to get Expulsom, if you don't know how to get this crafting item.

150 - 165

15 x Rank 2 - Notorious Combatant's Discombobulator - 210 Osmenite Ore, 60 Storm Silver Ore, 120 Insulated Wiring, 30 Expulsom

You can buy the Rank 2 recipe from Dazzerian (Horde) / Crafticus Mindbender (Alliance) at Nazjatar. It cost 2 Mark of Honor.

165 - 175

10 x Rank 3 - Notorious Combatant's Discombobulator - 120 Osmenite Ore, 30 Storm Silver Ore, 60 Insulated Wiring, 10 Expulsom

You can buy the Rank 3 recipe for 4 Mark of Honor from the same NPCs as the rank 2.

You should stop at 170 if you want to craft the new epic goggles since you will get 6 skill points in total for crafting the 3 goggles.

I hope you liked this BfA Engineering leveling guide, congratulations on reaching 175!
